Kenmore dryer not heating
No heat on a Whirlpool-built Kenmore usually means the thermal fuse has blown — and the fuse is the messenger, not the disease. It blows when a clogged vent lets the exhaust run hot, so replacing it without clearing the airflow restriction just schedules the next failure. On electric models we also test the heating element and high-limit thermostat; on gas models, the igniter and the gas valve coils, which classically let the burner light for a few seconds and then drop out. We restore the heat and the airflow, because one without the other doesn't last.
Kenmore dryer won't start or drum won't turn
A dryer that's completely dead is a different problem from one that hums while the drum sits still. Dead usually means a door switch, start switch, or (on Whirlpool-built machines) a thermal fuse that also interrupts the motor circuit. A humming motor with a stationary drum means the belt has snapped — and many Whirlpool designs have a belt switch that kills the motor when the belt lets go, so the machine simply acts dead. We carry belts, switches, and fuses for the common Kenmore platforms and can usually finish this repair in a single visit.
Kenmore dryer squealing, thumping, or grinding
Noise from a Kenmore dryer is the drum support system wearing out, and the parts involved depend on the builder. Whirlpool-built machines squeal from a dry, worn idler pulley that keeps tension on the belt, and thump from flat-spotted drum rollers. Front-glide designs scrape as the plastic glides wear through and the drum starts riding on metal. None of these get better on their own, and a worn roller left long enough chews into the drum itself. We replace the full set of wear parts while the cabinet is open, so you're not paying for a second teardown six months later.
Kenmore dryer takes forever to dry
Long dry times are the most misdiagnosed dryer complaint we see. The machine gets blamed, but the vent duct is the culprit more often than any part inside the cabinet — lint restriction slows airflow, the dryer can't shed moisture, and every cycle drags. When the vent is clear, we test the moisture sensor bars, the cycling thermostat, and actual heat output at the drum. It's a methodical check rather than a parts swap, and it ends with the real cause in writing before you approve anything.
