LG built its washers around a direct-drive motor: no belt, the rotor mounted straight on the drum shaft, and a hall-effect rotor position sensor telling the inverter board exactly how fast the drum is turning. It's a durable design, but when it fails, it fails in predictable ways — drain pumps and coin traps behind OE codes, inlet valves behind IE, suspension and sensor issues behind UE and spin failures.
Because the whole machine is inverter-controlled, guessing at parts gets expensive fast. We pull the stored error codes first, then verify with real component tests — winding resistance on the pump and rotor position sensor, water flow at the inlet valves — before anything goes on the quote.
LG washer not draining or flashing OE
OE is LG's drain error: the control expected the tub to empty within a set time and it didn't. On direct-drive models the usual suspects sit at the bottom front — a coin trap packed with lint and debris, or a drain pump whose impeller has worn or seized. We test the pump under load and clear the full drain path rather than assuming the pump is dead.
LG washer not filling or showing IE
IE means the water level didn't rise fast enough during fill. Half the time the fix is upstream of the washer entirely — a partially closed valve or clogged inlet screens — and the rest points to the inlet valve solenoids or the pressure sensor that reports water level to the board. We check actual flow before replacing electrical parts.
LG washer shaking, walking, or stuck on UE
UE is the unbalance error — the control tries a few redistribution tumbles and gives up if the load won't settle. A single heavy item can trigger it on a healthy machine, but repeated UE codes with normal loads usually mean the suspension is worn or the machine is no longer sitting level. We also verify the rotor position sensor, since bad speed data can look like imbalance to the board.
LG washer won't spin or drum won't turn
The rotor position sensor is the direct-drive system's speedometer — when it drifts or fails, the motor stutters, hums, or refuses to ramp into spin. The stator windings and main control board are the other candidates, and they test very differently, which is why we measure before we replace anything.
